FINCH is a nimble, independent production company focused on the craft of storytelling, entertainment and technology.
Founded in 2011, FINCH has offices in Sydney and Auckland. Over the last three years, our work has been recognised with advertising’s top honors including Gold Cannes Lions, One Black Pencil and Several Yellow Pencils at D&AD, Grand Prix at The New York Festivals, Gold Pencils at the ONE show and Gold at CICLOPE.
FINCH’s transmedia work ‘The Great Crusade’ was nominated for a 2012 International Emmy. In 2013 FINCH’s documentary ’The Swimmer' about Australian Olympic hero Ian Thorpe’s return to competitive swimming screened in prime-time on the ABC. In the same year, FINCH designed and built the world’s first petition-signing robot. Authenticated with Facebook profiles, the campaign won a 2014 Facebook Studio award, and more importantly was the first electronic petition tabled by the Australian Government, raising awareness for the debilitating disease Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) in partnership with Save Our Sons. Giving much needed hope to DMD sufferers and commissioning new research. The arm toured as a public installation also appearing on Australian primetime TV, major press and on radio.
The company has also developed the patented 37Degrees System, a 3D innovation that allows cinema patrons to experience different sides of a narrative in a whole new way. Two people sitting side by side in the same cinema can watch two different films. The technology premiered in limited release before The Avengers, the most successful film opening ever.
In 2014 FINCH was recognised as PRODUCTION COMPANY OF THE YEAR by AWARD and MUMBRELLA. In the area of Applied Technology, FINCH has been recognised by every major award body including, Cannes Lions, Spikes Asia, The One Show and D&AD. FINCH holds several patents and IP in the innovation and technology sectors.
