Looking at art used to be boring. It still is, maybe, but at least here at Mona, the Museum of Old and New Art, you can get drunk and/or rage against the machine. Located just up the river from Hobart (Tasmania's southern capital), Mona's subterranean architecture showcases the highlights (and lowlights) of David Walsh’s $110m private collection of art and antiquities, as well as hosting a busy exhibitions program.

But Mona is more than the museum. It's actually a safe house for over 40 brands, all driven by creativity. We have two of Tassie's best wineries (Moorilla and Domaine A), the state's biggest craft beer brewer (Moo Brew), heaps of places to eat and drink (The Source Restaurant, Faro bar, The Void Bar etc) as well as 5 star accommodation, a functions and events business, a record label, a hacking bus, a 63 seat cinema, high-speed camouflaged ferries, our own gin, etc, etc. You get the idea.

We also host two major festivals every year. Each January, our summer festival, Mona Foma, unleashes a hedonistic celebration of all thing music, art and 'refreshment' in Launceston. Come June, our Dark Mofo winter festival delves into centuries-old winter solstice rituals and celebrates the dark through art, music, food, film, light and noise.

Mona employs over 300 people. Some times triple that.
